About the role
We are recruiting Hospital Medical Officers (Year 3) - GP & General for the HMO year. These positions are suitable for doctors wishing to pursue a career in General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Women & Children, or those who have yet to decide on a career path. Rotations include Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Aged Care, General Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Mental Health. All HMOs will participate in the night/relieving roster.
Eastern Health welcomes junior medical staff into a supportive and stimulating workplace. The GP and General stream is suited to HMOs seeking to establish a Critical Care, GP career or for those who are still determining their career direction and wish to strengthening their foundation will have access to broad, relevant clinical experience. Our excellent postgraduate medical education unit is headed by a Director and supported by four site based Supervisors of Junior Doctor Training, two Medical Education Officers and an Administrative assistant. The unit provides both an intern and HMO education program, and includes a junior doctor podcast, grand rounds and unit specific education. In 2023 we hope to return to some face to face workshops and simulation sessions providing COVID restrictions continue to be reduced.
