About the role

Are you looking for a learning and development environment to support you to work towards meeting the requirements of the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) clinical psychology registrar program?

Rotations across diverse sites and settings across our medical inpatient areas, working with patients with comorbid mental health concerns.

This clinical psychology registrar role provides a unique opportunity for you. The position is supported with a strong focus on growth learning, reflective practice, supervision and self-care. Benefits of the role include:

  • Rotations across Eastern Health’s acute and subacute inpatient medical settings.
  • Supervision from a Senior Clinical Psychologist and additional support from a Senior Psychology Educator to facilitate your learning and development.

  • Extensive professional development opportunities including professional development leave, individual and group supervision, support from a (PBA) Board-approved supervisor to develop an individualised Registrar Program (plan) designed to meet the competencies required to achieve endorsement in clinical psychology.

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Full registration or eligibility for full registration as a Psychologist by the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA).
  • Hold a Masters or Doctoral coursework qualification in Clinical Psychology that has been approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Eligibility to work towards endorsement in Approved Area of Practice of Clinical Psychology.
  • Demonstrated theoretical knowledge, experience and skills in the application of psychological assessment and interventions in medical settings.
  • Understanding of the role of a psychologist in a public health service and the contribution of psychology to the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to skilfully engage consumers, families, carers and other supports in the development and implementation of individualised plans designed to promote, foster and sustain mental well health.
  • A commitment to working with consumers, families, carers and other supports from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds and to providing services that are family and gender sensitive.
  • Ability and commitment to work collaboratively with consumers, carers, other supports and the multidisciplinary team including external agencies.
  • Commitment to supervised and reflective practice, lifelong learning and further development.
  • Computer literacy and embracing of health technologies and informatics.
  • High level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated high level inter personal skills with consumers, their families and all health care professionals.
