About the role

The Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Program is looking for the right person to take on a nine month limited tenure role of Team Leader for both the Eastern Dual Diagnosis Service and the Mental Health Social and Emotional Well Being Team. External applicants will be offered ongoing employment in an equivalent role upon completion of the limited tenure opportunity.

This role will provide clinical and administrative leadership to Dual Diagnosis, Mental Health Social and Emotional Wellbeing clinicians, and trainee roles and the broad range of associated activities.

Key areas of focus will include leadership support for Eastern Health Mental Health Services:

  •  To engage in the delivery of integrated treatment practices for the spectrum of co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns in all interventions for consumers and their families/carers where these concerns are present.
  •  To achieve the aim of strengthening clinical care and pathways to facilitate improved, supported, and culturally appropriate access to recovery-oriented mental health services for the Aboriginal communities in the Eastern Metropolitan Region

 You will play an integral role in supporting the connection and development of collaborative working relationships with Aboriginal Controlled Organisations/Aboriginal focused services and alcohol and other drug services to mental health services.

 The successful applicants will have experience in leading clinical service delivery in mental health settings and in the provision of recovery care.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Specialist knowledge of the issues and complications arising with the assessment and management of consumers experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a range of clinical services at a high standard, including specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions, to people with a serious mental illness and a serious substance use disorder. 
  • A sound knowledge of the principles and practices of clinical service delivery in mental health settings and drug and alcohol treatment settings. 
  • Interest or experience in working with Aboriginal people experiencing mental health problems.
  • Desire to support Aboriginal people to engage with Aboriginal Controlled Organizations and mainstream health services.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
