Senior Consumer Peer Workers

Employment type: Permanent Part time
Location: Box Hill or East Ringwood or Burwood East.

  • Part time 0.5 EFT (up to 19 hours per week).

Exciting new opportunities now exist for people with lived experience of mental health problems and who have received assistance from public mental health services to take on a leadership role as part of a team of Peer Workers within Eastern Health’s Mental Health Program. The successful applicants will work across the Psychiatric Inpatient Units in the Eastern Metropolitan region of Melbourne and provide support to the broader Eastern Health Mental Health Program.

Through sharing wisdom from their own mental health consumer experience, the Senior Consumer Peer Workers will provide support and information to consumers  accessing acute inpatient services.

You will work collaboratively with consumers, families and staff to assist in identifying needs and providing culturally safe support. You will need to be able to reflect on your own consumer lived experience.

The Senior Consumer Peer Worker will provide group and individual peer support interventions to mental health Consumers and maintain a leadership role for Consumer Peer Support Workers within the mental health service.  

A key component of the role is to provide supervision and leadership to Consumer Peer Workers to ensure best practice and consistency in peer support interventions within a recovery oriented framework.

 

As a peer support worker, you will receive the following additional benefits:
