This is a unique opportunity to return to acute care - delivery/birth suite and pre and post-natal units as part of our maternity services located at Box Hill and Angliss Hospitals. We also have a domiciliary midwifery team working across Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs.

About the role
Places are available on the Eastern Health Midwifery Refresher Program. We will provide you with a supported program of education, clinical teaching, hospital-based learning and additional support whilst regaining confidence, experience and skills in the clinical setting. Prior to commencement of the clinical component at either Box Hill or Angliss hospital, you will be required to complete the theoretical element of the program online through the Australian College of Midwives. This is comprised of 37 core hours of study and access to 16 elective hours. More information can be found Refresher Program for Midwives .Successful applicants will be required to incur the cost of this part of the course themselves.
The clinical component of the refresher program is free, and can be undertaken in a full-time capacity over six weeks (five days per week) or part time over eight weeks. Successful candidates must be able to commit to a minimum of three shifts per week, with two of these shifts on consecutive days. It includes access to clinical educator support, professional development study days, skill acquisition via simulation based learning and clinical placement in the acute ward setting. The PROMPT, NeoResus and FSEP are included in this program.
The program will commence in July 2022, with the flexibility to start later at a mutually convenient time. There is no requirement to work weekends, public holidays or nights. The refresher program is not a paid position. Participants will, however, be guaranteed an interview for a permanent position within Eastern Health, upon successful completion of the program.
About you
Your previous acute experience will be favourably considered. To be eligible for the refresher program you must have:
- Current nursing registration with AHPRA (condition free)
- Professional indemnity insurance
- The commitment to complete the program of study and clinical placement hours
- A willing to undergo pre-employment screening, including reference checks and police check
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A high degree of accountability and a supportive and engaging style
