Senior Mental Health Nurse – Intensive Eating Disorders (Family Therapy) Team, Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS), Eastern Health

About the role

Eastern Health’s Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is seeking a Senior Mental Health Nurse with a particular interest and experience in working with people with an eating disorder.

As a senior Mental Health Nurse, you will have a key role in providing an innovative model of care that supports the provision of effective evidence based family therapy and group therapy interventions for young people up to the age of 25 years presenting with an eating disorder, with a particular focus on improving the outcomes for young people presenting with complex eating disorders that have not responded to usual treatment from one of our community teams. 

Key components of the team’s functions will include:

• provision of direct, intensive clinical case management and treatment for referred young people and their families, and include outreach, in-home meal support, intensive family and group therapies
• assessment and care planning
• clinical consultation and support to CYMHS (and AMHS) teams
• coordination and delivery of multifamily therapy for anorexia nervosa
• development of improved pathways of care for people within the mental health program experiencing a severe and complex eating disorder
• delivery of secondary consultation and community education to key stakeholders across the eastern metropolitan region.
