About the role

We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Senior Mental Health Clinician (Grade 4 Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, or Grade 5 Psychiatric Nurse) with a keen interest to join the Consultation & Liaison Psychiatry team and further develop your mental health skills and experience.

This position is based mainly at Maroondah and Box Hill Hospitals however there may be times where you will be required to support the CL teams at other Eastern Health sites.

About you 

To be successful in this role you should possess:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a range of clinical mental health settings
  • Post-graduate qualifications relevant to mental health
  • A current Registration in Division 1 issued by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Grade 4 Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, utilising well developed critical analysis skills to achieve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Extensive experience in the area of clinical expertise in mental health with demonstrated ability to work with a diverse and complex professional workforce
  • Interest and experience working in a multi and inter-disciplinary team environment
  • Knowledge and expertise in the field of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry

Selection Criteria Essential: Bachelor of Nursing or other recognised equivalent formal qualification leading to condition free registration in Australia Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian (NMBA) via AHPRA
Essential: Post Registration or Post Graduate qualification or further study relevant to mental health A satisfactory police check is required prior to appointment A current Victorian Working with Children Check is required
Essential: Extensive experience and proven ability in the clinical assessment, formulation and management of acutely disturbed persons and techniques of crisis intervention Demonstrated ability to work with people with dual diagnosis
Essential: Extensive experience in the area of clinical expertise in mental health with demonstrated ability to work with a diverse and complex professional workforce
Essential: Understanding of the Recovery Framework and new National Standards on Recovery including the expectations for Consultation and Liaison to work within these.
Essential: A sound working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014, related legislation, and an awareness of current area mental health procedure and practice requirements
Essential: Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and interpersonal with demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as an effective team member at a local and organisational level to deliver organisational outcomes.
Essential: Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, utilising well developed critical analysis skills to achieve efficiency and effectiveness Demonstrated ability to lead significant change practice initiatives
Essential: Demonstrated negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated record of achievement of quality service delivery Previous experience working in a senior clinical lead role. Proficient in Microsoft applications
Desirable: Post-graduate training and qualifications in relevant Mental Health field Experience in research related activities Recent experience in an educative role with nurses
